1940’s Watumull's Cold Rayon Hawaiian Dress

$698.00

When ohana (family) gather to celebrate with one another they prepare meals, have luau, dance the hula, make lei…this is the Hawaiian way and is depicted on the print in this 1940’s cold rayon dress or jacket. Some of the terms in this dress like Pa'i Kapa is the process of printing native designs on kapa cloth and hukilau is when the community comes together to fish with a net made from ti leaves. As a native Hawaiian I am particularly attracted to the print as it is nostalgic of the sense of community, Hawaiian spirit and Aloha (love and fellowship) that is shared when people come together to create!
